Ofsted registration
Children's homes in England are registered and inspected by Ofsted. Havenwell House is completing its registration now, and we will not accept a placement until that registration is confirmed.
Once we are registered, our unique reference number (URN) and a direct link to our Ofsted record will appear here, so you can check our status and read our inspection reports for yourself.

Statement of Purpose
The most detailed picture of the home
Our Statement of Purpose sets out who we are, the young people we support, our aims and ethos, our staffing and management, and exactly how we run the home day to day. It is the single most detailed document about Havenwell House.
We share our Statement of Purpose, along with our full policies — including safeguarding, behaviour support and physical intervention — with placing authorities on request.
Safeguarding
The first duty, held by everyone
Safeguarding is not a policy in a drawer. It is the standard every person here works to, every day.
A named lead
Safeguarding is overseen by our Designated Safeguarding Lead, with clear procedures for recognising, recording and escalating any concern without delay.
Safer recruitment
Everyone who works here is recruited through safer-recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, full references, and verified employment history before they start.
Ongoing training
Staff are trained in safeguarding and child protection as part of their induction and keep it current through regular refresher training and supervision.
Independent oversight
Checked from the outside, not just the inside
Regulation builds in independent scrutiny of how a home is run. We welcome it — external eyes keep everyone honest.
Regulation 44 — monthly independent visits
An independent visitor inspects the home every month, speaks with young people and staff, and reports on the quality of care and whether children are safe and well cared for. Their reports are shared with Ofsted.
Regulation 45 — six-monthly review
At least every six months we formally review the quality of care across the home, using the views of young people, families and professionals to understand what is working and what needs to improve.
Complaints & concerns
If something isn't right, we want to know
Young people, families and professionals can raise a concern at any time — with a member of staff, with the manager directly, or by email. We take every concern seriously, respond promptly, and are honest when we get something wrong.
Young people living at Havenwell House are actively supported to share their views and to access independent advocacy. Where a concern relates to the safety of a child, it can also be raised with the placing authority, the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), or Ofsted as our regulator.
