About Havenwell House

A small, specialist children's home in Luton — built around consistency, honesty, and the belief that every young person deserves somewhere stable enough to heal.

Our story

Why Havenwell House exists

Havenwell House exists for a simple reason: too many young people move through the care system without ever landing somewhere stable enough to make sense of what has happened to them. Placements break down, trusted adults change, and each move makes the next one harder.

We built Havenwell House to be the opposite of that — a small, three-bed home where a young person can stay, be known, and be given the time that real recovery takes. We kept it small on purpose. Three beds, not thirty, because consistency here is not a slogan; it is the whole model. The same staff, the same routines, the same expectations, day after day.

We specialise rather than generalise. Our work is with young people aged 12–16 living with the effects of trauma, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and learning disabilities — needs that call for patience, training, and a calm environment, not a placement that simply contains them.

That focus shapes every decision, from how we recruit and train staff to how we design the daily routine. It also means we are honest about who we can and cannot support. We would rather decline a referral than accept a placement we cannot deliver safely — because for the young people already living here, and for the one being referred, another breakdown is exactly what we are working hardest to prevent.

That is the whole reason Havenwell House exists — not to grow into a chain or fill beds at volume, but to do one thing well: give a small number of young people a home settled enough to change what comes next.

Leadership

Who leads Havenwell House

Clear lines of accountability, from the first referral call through to day-to-day care. In line with our safeguarding policy, we identify our team by role.

The Referrals Team

Led by the Managing Director

Your first point of contact. The referrals team handles every enquiry personally, assesses fit against the young person's needs, and stays with you from initial call to move-in. Straightforward, responsive, and honest about what we can offer.

Our values

What we hold ourselves to

Four principles that are easy to write on a wall and hard to live every day. We treat them as the second.

Safety

Physical and emotional safety come first. A young person cannot grow until they feel genuinely secure, so felt safety is where every placement begins.

Consistency

The same faces, the same boundaries, the same routines. Predictability is what makes a home feel safe, and we protect it every day.

Respect

We treat every young person as an individual with a history, a voice, and a future — never as a diagnosis or a set of behaviours.

Growth

Stability is the start, not the goal. We help young people build the skills, relationships, and confidence to move forward.
